Hiring a backend engineer

Hiring a backend engineer starts with the service the person will own, not with a stack slogan. APIs, a data store, and the queues between them fail in specific ways. A résumé that lists Go, Java, Postgres, and Kafka does not say whether those failures have been the job.

Calibre publishes the backend spec and checks the certifications on it before a match. The engineer then joins your team under your direction. That is verified staff augmentation.

What the published role checks

Seniority is senior, six or more years. The stack is Go, Java, Postgres, and Kafka.

Stack Certifications checked Seniority
Go · Java · Postgres · Kafka OCP Java · AWS Developer · AWS Solutions Architect Senior · 6+ yrs

Cardholder data and PCI credentials are a finance-sector hire, published on the finance page. They are not the default backend spec.

What to specify

  1. The service. What it reads, what it writes, and what a wrong write costs.
  2. The stack. If it is not Go, Java, Postgres, or Kafka, say so. The roster matches to published criteria, and an unlisted stack is still a specification.
  3. Seniority and model. Embedded, part-time, or team. Request the rate for that pair on Engagement.
  4. Start date. The match is against engineers whose checked certifications meet the spec.

When the record ships

The verification record is not a slide in a sales call. It is the output of the procedure: certifications checked at the issuing body, background-check status, and references. You receive it once engagement is underway. The steps are Specify, Match, Record, Embed. They are the same four steps for a backend engineer as for any other role on the roster. The procedure is on Calibre and the verification detail is on Verification.

The stack on a résumé is a claim. The certification on the record is a check.
