CCISO — Certified Chief Information Security Officer — is EC-Council's credential built specifically for the executive seat, not a senior-engineer stepping stone. It covers five domains: governance and risk management, information security controls and audit management, security program management and operations, information security core competencies, and strategic planning, finance, and vendor management.
What it verifies
CCISO confirms someone has operated at CISO level — budget, vendor, and board accountability — not just held security responsibilities inside a larger team. EC-Council requires 5 years of experience across at least 3 of the 5 domains at a management level, or an approved substitution for candidates without the full tenure.
Who typically holds it
On the calibre° roster, CCISO is checked for CISO (Fractional) alongside CISSP and CISM — the three credentials that together cover technical depth, security-program management, and executive-level accountability for that engagement.
